People are actually starting to read "Simple Community." First of all, thank you! It means a lot to me that people are finding value in the book. To this point there are still fewer than 1,000 books in circulation, though today, for the first time, it is available on Amazon and bookstores are soon to follow.
It sure seems like it takes a long time though... I should be patient, and what am I talking about? It took me the better part of ten years to write it. What, I should think it would be an overnight success before it is even officially for sale?
I digress. People are reading the book.
And the reason I mention that now is that people are coming to this website too. And I was having a hard time figuring out why until I remembered I talk about this site in the book and encourage people to come. Which is why I built it. Anyway, we have had more visitors to the website in the first week of November than we have had in some single months since starting in February this year. I haven't done anything to encourage people to come because I know we are about to launch the rebuild.
But I think I may know why they are coming.
Every day now I get a note or a call from someone with a kind word to say about the book. In nearly ever case it is because the book hit home for them. They could relate. Maybe even more important, they WANT to relate. WE want to relate. That's why both you and I are on this website.
If you have followed the site you know I am doing a complete rebuild of the site so it will be very easy for readers to be contributors too. More about that as we get there. But I am beginning to think a major purpose of this site is to be the space where people who want to grow their neighborhoods & communities can communicate with others who want to do the same.
Am I right?
